I work as lecturer at the department of
Informatics . I have been employed
at the University of Umeå since 1975. Before coming to Sweden I worked
in western Canada for 10 years as a computer programmer. I did my Ph.D. in computing science at the
University of Alberta. I received my undergraduate education in England.
I speak Swedish fluently.

I teach courses at the undergraduate level in Java, C++, operating systems,
databases, computer networks, software engineering and design of grafical
user interfaces.

For the past few years I have been the person responsible for international
exchange programs at the department.

Until the autumn of 1999 I worked half time as systems analyst at the university
computing center Umdac. There I developed
BELEVAD, an order processing system used by the university for purchasing
computer equipment and SALUTH, a reservation system used for booking lecture
rooms throughout the university. Both systems are written in Ingres Open
Road. I also developed a system for the European Computer Driving Licence
used throughout the country ECDL.

In my spare time I am active in the outdoors, canoeing, kayaking, hiking,
skiing and skating. When on holiday I prefer to travel.
I am an active member of the Umeå section of the Swedish Touring Club
STF.
