First head of a new Corporate Data Processing Department.[Transition from punch card equipment at four different sites to one computer center. I headed both a large inhouse integrated systems development programme, choosing hardware and basic software, and data. processing operation. Before I left this position I also organised the outsourcing of the data processing including necessary negotiations. Before the outsourcing the department comprised a staff of 60 persons. After outsourcing the staff was about 35 persons. These included a small group of the earlier data processing supervisors. They formed a liason group mediating between the internal customers and the Service Bureau doing the data processing. Of the development staff of about 25 people four were hired from outside with experience ofcomputerised data processing. The rest were internally recruited and educated on the job. Later we only recruited internally.]
