INFORMATION, INTEGRITY, AND UNIVERSITY POLITICS
(Main documentation at http://www.informatik.umu.se/~kivanov/SemPUL.html and
http://www.informatik.umu.se/~kivanov/RandomErrUnivPol.html)
This seminar summarizes and completes my two earlier seminars this spring
on March 13 and April 17 as specified with bibliography at
http://www.informatik.umu.se/seminarier/2002/
concerning the systems approach to technology and the issue of privacy or
personal integrity in the light of the Swedish Personal Data Act. The
seminar is also a bridge to two planned seminars this autumn on September
18 and 22 concerning the two parts of my "professorial testament" that
summarizes my 30 years of research and management in the field of
informatics, as preliminarily stated in "Dialectical systems design and
beyond" at http://www.informatik.umu.se/~kivanov/PerspSem2000.html.
This seminar will capitalize upon the fact that the discipline of
informatics i based on what is to be understood as "information", in its
relation to perception, data, intuition, reality (and virtuality), and
knowledge. Particular attention will be paid to the concept of error and
margin of error. This will be related to a couple of articles expected to
be published in the coming June issue of the university personnel journal
AKTUM No. 5/2002 and in the journal Universitetsläraren No. 10/2002, both
articles being based on the text "Scientific method and university
politics", found at
http://www.informatik.umu.se/~kivanov/RandomErrUnivPol.html
and dealing with affirmative action in the evaluation and ranking of
academic university personnel.
The seminar will be held in Swedish unless there are guest participants who
only understand English.
Välkomna! Mikael Wiberg
