The course will be given in English during the autumn term 2009.
There will be several compulsary assignments based on the book used as course literature.
Course outline
This course provides an introduction to the social and technical aspects of information technology (IT). The components of computer systems and how they work are explained. Different application areas of IT for both organizations and individuals are presented together with an introduction to how these applications are designed. Principles of data communication and computer networks are introduced. Large scale nets such as the Internet as well as company based nets are discussed together with the social consequences of their use. Risks and related ethical issues of IT are also covered.
