Welcome to CMID group
CMID research group is interested in Cross-Media Interaction Design. Up until now, the concept of cross-media have been used and studied mainly in the area of media and communication and New Media meaning “where the storyline will invite the receiver to cross-over from one medium to the next” (de Haas, 2005) In other words, when we tell a story in more than one medium. Research about cross-media, until now, has mainly studied the phenomenon on a societal level, common in humanities. Studies discussing how to design products, applications and media productions from a micro perspective, which is the most commonly used level of analysis in Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and Interaction Design areas is, to some extent, difficult to find. However, it seems reasonable to believe that interaction designers need input as guidelines, theories and models in how to think in design of interactive cross-media concepts. The goal of our research is to give guidance in this by conducting studies, often in tight collaboration with industry, and providing knowledge about this. There is also a need for the areas of, for instance, New Media and HCI to start to discuss a research agenda for, what could be called, Cross-Media Interaction Design.
